Go Green with These 4 Eco-Conscious Brands

It’s March! Here in Chicago, we’re hoping the weather decides to “go green” for spring. It’s also as good as a time as any to start going green yourself!

By now, we hope you don’t need NASA to tell you that our planet is in trouble. But climate change isn’t an issue that any one individual can tackle. It takes the collective will and the commitment of organizations to affect real change.

It is in this spirit that we have decided to highlight a few of the companies that we are proud to carry because they are dedicating their collective energy to environmental sustainability. Supporting companies that prioritize our environment is one way that you as an individual can join in their efforts and demonstrate to other companies that while we always value good products, we also value products that are good for the Earth!

Uncle Harry’s Natural Products

For three decades, Uncle Harry’s Natural Products has been committed to producing earth-friendly products at people-friendly prices. We’ve been fans of Uncle Harry’s clean ingredients and high standard of quality for quite awhile, but this year they are giving us even more reasons to love them. In 2019, Uncle Harry’s is striving for zero waste in all facets of their business. From environmentally-friendly shipping options, to reusable and recyclable cleaning equipment, and 100% reliance on renewable energy sources, Uncle Harry’s is certainly doing their part for our planet!

Spa Ceylon

Harnessing the wisdom of Ayurveda, Spa Ceylon offers 100% natural, sustainably-sourced products made with pure herbs and organic essential oils. But we’re featuring them today because they are going a step further: The Ceylon Elephant is under threat of extinction because of the loss of its natural habitat. In response, Spa Ceylon launched the Save the Majestic Ceylon Elephant Campaign which raises awareness and funds conservation efforts in Sri Lanka.

Some of Our Favorites:

Sweet Comb Chicago

Did you know that a third of our food comes from bee and insect pollination? Bees are a cornerstone of our food chain and sadly, they’re in danger. Thankfully, there are some good people — like our Chicago neighbor, Sweet Comb Chicago — who are doing what they can to help! In a Northside neighborhood, right in our backyard, they are keeping a colony of bees and using the byproducts to create some awesome stuff!

Some of Our Favorites:

O’Douds Apothecary

O’Douds Apothecary began with a search for high-quality, well-sourced grooming products. When that proved difficult to find, their founder decided to create his own. Since then, O’Douds has been committed to the best ingredients — all natural, vegan, and cruelty free — and sustainable and recyclable packaging. Through O’Douds’ growth from a one-person Etsy shop to a sizeable operation, every decision has been informed by their mission statement: “We believe every choice has an impact, and we provide products without compromise.”
