New Year’s Eve is all about celebrating the possibilities of the new year ahead, so why not reflect that in your personal style? These three unique New Year’s Eve makeup ideas are the perfect opportunity to reinvent yourself. If you want to take more makeup risks in the new year, try a new approach to your usual nude lip and mascara combo. Read on for our favorite clean makeup recommendations and learn how to recreate these three looks on your own.
Sparkly Copper Eye
Your New Year’s Eve makeup look isn’t complete without a little bit of shimmer. Soft shades of terracotta caught our eye this fall, but this time we took a copper-toned eyeshadow look and turned it up a few notches. You can’t be a wallflower on the last night of the year. Start by applying a smokey gold shade, like Golden Age Ash and Ember Eye Soot by Rituel de Fille, all over the lid, from the lash line to just above the crease. Use this same shade to line the lower lash line.
Next, we mixed Exuviae Ash and Ember Eye Soot with Ara Celestial Sphere Eye Soot to create a pearlescent pop of taupe shadow. Apply that to the center of the lid to create a simple halo eye. Make your eyes stand out even more with a few swipes of purple mascara. These shades will specifically accentuate blue or green eyes. Finish the look with a clear gloss.

Smoked Out Liner
If classic cat liner and an intense smokey eye had a baby, it would be this dramatic eye look. This play on timeless beauty will make a statement as you celebrate the new year. Start with a freshly sharpened black pencil liner. Get as close to the base of the lash as possible and apply the liner along the lash line.
We loved using Dr. Hauschka’s Eye Definer for this sultry New Year’s Eve makeup look because of its pigmentation and color range. Use the smudge tip on the opposite end of the pencil to create a smokey effect in the outer corner. Rituel de Fille’s Ash and Ember Eye Soots have a cream to powder finish that is perfect for creating a look like this. We applied the shade Obsidian over the pencil using an angled liner brush. Apply this shade to the outer corner in an outward motion to create a wing.
It helps to have a makeup wedge on hand to wipe away any excess shadow and get a clean line. Apply a black liquid liner to the base of the lash line to give the eye more definition and create a soft gradient effect. Try this look using shades of purple or deep blue for even more impact. Add a natural pink or soft nude lip color to finish the look. Top it with a gloss for extra shine.

Glossy Red Lip
Who says clean makeup can’t deliver impactful results? Empower your pout with an ode to Old Hollywood on NYE. Start by lining your lips with a red pencil, fill in the outer thirds of your bottom lip and the center of your top lip just below the cupids bow. This will give the color some staying power. Apply a matte red liquid lipstick all over the lips.
Our current favorite shade is Fiesta by Clove+Hallow. It contains just 15 ingredients but still makes a statement. Apply the product to the back of your hands and dip into it with a lip brush to get a controlled, clean line. Follow that up with a bright red gloss for an added wow factor. Use a brow pomade, wax, or powder to create softly defined eyebrows that frame your face.
